Vocalist

Born at Calcutta in 1960, Ujjal is ever ready to bring out his harmonium and enthrall his listeners with his extensive repertoire of Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Geeti, classical based as well as modern Bengali and Hindi songs, Ghazals and his speciality, folk songs.

Ujjal started his formal training in vocal music at an early age and learnt from stalwarts like Sangitacharya Sidheswar Mukherjee,  Sangitacharya Manindra Chakrabarty, Sri Pintoo Bhattacharya and Sri Jatileswar Mukherjee. 

Ujjal has been performing for All India Radio, Doordarshan TV , has sung  for many shows all over India and has composed music for many releases by renowned companies like HMV, etc. He teaches vocal music at Sri Aurobindo International Centre of Education, Pondicherry. 

Professionally, he works as an Engineer with Berger Paints.  Apart from music, he is also a good actor and has performed for theatres and directed dramas for children.
