Parade Route: Intersecrtion of 3rd Street & Normandie Ave to the intersection of 3rd Street & Vermont Ave in Los Angeles, California.
The Bangladesh Day Parade 2011 was marked by a significant event brochure, a Seminar attended by the chief guest and other distinguished guests, speeches, exhibits,
recognitions, children's picture drawing and poetry recitation contest, booths of Bangladeshi ethnic food and clothing and cultural programs with melodious songs,
drama and colorful dances, etc. These events took place in two days, Saturday and Sunday;
Saturday March 26th, 2011:
Parade:
This parade did not just maintain the tradition of BUFLA's previous years parade with the participation of a very high number of Bangladeshi-American
community members. The parade took place on the 40th Independence Day of Bangladesh and it was for the first time. The parade passed over the newly designated 'LITTLE BANGLADESH' area for the first time.
The parade started at 2:30 PM at the intersection of 3rd Street & Normandie Ave. Congressman Brad Sherman has opened the parade in presence of other dignitaries and he has led the parade as the Parade Marshall.
A horse contingent followed by a huge flag of Bangladesh carried by BUFLA Scout members were at the forefront of the parade. A contingent of motorbikes were also circling the parade route. It was a very colorful parade
participated by nearly 1,000 people. The parade moved towards east on 3rd Street and ended at the intersection of 3rd Street & Vermont Ave. Parade participants then moved to the
Shatto Recreation Center at 5:00 PM. This has been 5th Parade in Los Angeles to celebrate the Bangladesh Day with joy, pride, and resounding glory. The city blocks involving the parade route on 3rd street was crowded
by the residents watching the colorful parade waving Bangladeshi and American flags in their hands. At least 20 organizations from Bangladeshi-American community participated in the parade
and many of them with their beautiful banners.
Inaugural Program:
A traditional inaugural ceremony was ensued the parade by hoisting Bangladesh, US and BUFLA flags by the Chief Guest
Dr. Kali Pradeep Chowdhury, LAPD Deputy Chief Michael Downing and Jashim Ashrafi Ahmed, President of BUFLA. Spiritual convocations ensued with recitation from Al-Qur'an in Arabic,
English and in Bangla followed by recitations of Geeta and Tripitak. National Anthems of United States and Bangladesh and BUFLA Theme Song have been played during the flag
hoisting. Jashim Ashrafi Ahmed, President of BUFLA gave welcome address to the dignitaries and to the audience. Flowers offered by children to the dignitaries. Consul Generals from several
countries has been in the parade along with many other dignitaries including senior elected officials of the City of Los Angeles and suburban cities, business executives and other distinguished citizens
were present among the audience. One beautiful group choreography was offered by members of Uttoron Los Angeles. Renowned dancer Shaon Mustafa has organized the choreography. The Los Angeles City Coucil President
Eric Garcetti offered his speech to the audience. The Los Angeles City Coucilmember Tom LaBonge also offered speech to the audience. Deputy LAPD Chief Michael Downing presented his speech. Consul Generals from several countries has been in the parade along with many other dignitaries including
senior elected officials of the City of Los Angeles and suburban cities, business executives and other distinguished citizens presented their speeches to the audience.
Saturdays Cultural Program:
The Sunday cultural program was also scripted by Farhana Sayeed, Cultural Secretary, Bangladesh Unity Federation of Los Angeles (BUFLA)
and with close guidance of Dr. Shah Alam, Dr. Shah Alam, General Secretary, BUFLA assisted by former BUFLA President Dr. M. A. Hashem and Mohammad Nurunnabi Rolin of
Uttoron Los Angeles. Unlike any other cultural programs that took place in the past in and around Los Angeles, the Bangladesh Day has
offered a unique cultural show staged by the BUFLA Cultural Team formed by artists from 3 major cultural organizations. The BUFLA Cultural Team worked relentlessly to
stage cultural programs of Saturday and Sunday as an excellent piece of presentation.
Somnur Monir Konal, Channel i 2009 award winner and popular singer and Close up 2005 famous Rumi performed as the main artists and amused the audience. Channel-i has sponsored the
Bangladesh Day Parade 2011.
Award Ceremony:
BUFLA Awards was awarded to Singers Somnur Monir Konal, Singer Rumi and Channel-i New York representative Ashraful Alam
Khokan by the Chief Guest Dr. Kali Pradeep Chowdhury, the Parade Marshall Brad Sherman, Congressman, The Los Angeles City Coucil President Eric Garcetti, Los Angeles City Coucilmember Tom LaBonge,
LA Sheriff Chief Lee Baca, were presented BUFLA Awards also for their contribution to BUFLA.

Bangladesh Day Parade 2011.
This program drew a striking number of audiences. Samar Das provided Tabla assistance to the Saturday Cultural show.
PA system was provided by Cosmos Sound & Stage and worked very well.

Seminar:
This seminar has been participated by distinguished Bangladeshi-American personalities. This part of the event was conducted
by Anisur Rahman and run in parallel with the children's program.
Children's Picture drawing and Poetry recitation contest:
This part of the event was conducted by Mr. Rokeya Rahman Rina and Mrs. Tazia Hashem assisted by a number of
distinguished ladies of the Bangladeshi-American community. A number of children took part in this program with their beautiful picture drawing
and their poetry recitations.
Sundays Cultural Program:
